KXRO Newsradio reports that the city of Hoquiam in Washington has declared April 10, 2014 to be Nirvana day. That is the same day that the band will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The band have roots in Aberdeen.
Mayor Jack Durney said: "They bring great honor, I think as I say, to our entire community. And I think that it's good Kurt Cobain lived in Hoquiam for a little while, but he and Krist Novoselic are part of our community, and I think it's good to honor our sons and their great accomplishments."
The band has sold over 25 million albums in the United States and over 75 million worldwide.
