That's reportedly why she cut her tour short...
As you may recall, Selena Gomez announced that she was canceling the 2014 Australian leg of her tour. Now we may know why. Popdust reports that Selena, who had released a statement saying she was going to "spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be," is battling Lupus.
According to the site, sources close to Selena say she was diagnosed with Lupus a couple of years back and has several flare-ups recently that have caused typical Lupus symptoms of facial swelling, extreme fatigue, headaches and joint pain. One source noted, "Selena has been going full throttle the past few years and her Lupus is really catching up with her right now. She knows that she needs to take some time to address the disease and look after herself better if she wants to live a full and healthy life."
For those who are unaware, Lupus is an autoimmune disease in which the immune system assaults the body, causing inflammation and tissue damage. The disease is incurable but treatable, with 80% to 90% of victims living a full lifespan. Seal, Toni Braxton and Nick Cannon are among those with the disease.
