Billboard reports that Justin Timberlake's The 20/20 Experience finished 2013 as the year's top selling album. Also Robin Thick's "Blurred Lines" was the biggest song hit of the year.
Timberlake's 20/20 album, released on March 19, sold 2.43 million copies last year. It's the only album that sold more than two million copies that year. In addition, it is also the smallest-selling year-end No. 1 album since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking music sales in 1991.
The second-biggest album of the year was Eminem's The Marshall Mathers LP 2 with 1.73 million copies sold. Luke Bryan's Crash My Party was 2013's No. 3 album with 1.52 million copies sold.
41% of all albums sold in 2013 were downloads, an increase from 37% in 2012 and 31% in 2011. The 20/20 Experience was the top selling digital album of 2013 as well with 1.03 million digital downloads sold.
Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" with Pharrell and T.I. was the top selling song of 2013 with 6.5 million copies sold. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' "Thrift Shop" with Wanz was the second-biggest song of the year with 6.15 million copies sold. No. 3 was Imagine Dragons' with 5.5 million copies sold.
A total of 106 songs sold more than 1 million downloads in 2013. That's down from 108 from 2012 and 112 in 2011.
