The partnership has been a good one for them...
Jay Z's deal with Barneys New York has netted the two sides over a million dollars in profits. The New York Daily News quotes a source at the outlet who says that "figures were being tallied on Friday, the last day of sales, but profits had exceeded the million-dollar mark."
Retail prices for items from the line ranged from $70 to $58,000. The collection was revealed just before a scandal about alleged racial profiling hit the store, which Jay ended up taking to his Life + Times blod to comment on, saying, "I will not leave the outcome to others. I will take this into my own hands with full power to recommend, review and revise policies and guidelines moving forward. I am choosing to take this head on."
100% of the collections profits and 10% of all Barneys' sales on the day the line debuted were donated to Jay Z's Shawn Carter Foundation help low-income students pay for college.
