Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 01.09.2014

Billboard reports that Pitbull and Ariana Grande had strong surges on the Billboard Social 50 chart this week in thanks to New Year's Eve TV performance.

Pitbull jumped up from 23-16 after he performed "Timber" in Miami on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin Eve with Ryan Seacrest. He had a 21% increase in mentions and a 90% increase in retweets from his Twitter account throughout the week. He added 283,000 new fans on Facebook and a total of 346,000 new fans across other online platforms.

On the same show, Ariana Grande performed "Right There" and "The Way" from Los Angeles. Grande goes up from 4-3 on the chart with a 13% increase in conversation on Facebook and Twitter. This led to an overall 38% increase in her overall social audience.

Jennifer Lopez also had a large gain, moving up 22 positions from 42-20. This was sparked by a photo she posted on December 30 that hinted at her next studio album. The photo had 145,000 likes on Instagram and contributed to a 32% rise in Lopez's overall score on the Social 50.
