After fans complained...
Metal Injection and Rolling Stone report that the producers of The Simpsons have apologized for labeling Judas Priest as a "death metal" band. During the opening of this past Sunday's episode, Bart is shown writing "Judas Priest is not 'Death Metal'" on the chalkboard.
The band appeared on the January 5th episode performing "Breaking the Law". However, there was a twist. The episode featured the FBI investigating Homer for illegally downloading movies. The group performed outside of the Swedish consulate, where the Simpsons were hiding. Rob Halford sang, "Respecting the law / Copyright law!"
An FBI agent said: "There's only one surefire way to get fugitives out of a foreign building. Blasting death metal!"
The Swedish diplomat that was helping the family added: "Swedes love death metal. It reminds us of death."
The band didn't comment, but their fans complained on social media, wondering how Halford's style of singing could be confused with death metal bands like Morbid Angel and Deicide.
