Katy Perry Gets #1 On Billboard Digital Songs Chart
Posted by Joseph Lee on 01.15.2014

Katy Perry is once again #1 on the Billboard Digital Songs chart as her collaboration with Juicy J, "Dark Horse", sold 243,000 downloads. The single is the third from her album Prism and has also climbed up 15-11 on the Pop Songs airplay chart (Mainstream Top 40). Her previous single, "Unconditionally", peaked at #15.

1. Katy Perry (ft. Juicy J) - "Dark Horse" (243,000)
2. Pitbull (ft. Ke$ha) - "Timber" (227,000)
3. A Great Big World (ft. Christina Aguilera) - "Say Something" (218,000)
4. OneRepublic - "Counting Stars" (185,000)
5. Eminem - "The Monster" (162,000)
6. Passenger - "Let Her Go" (146,000)
7. Aloe Blacc - "The Man" (139,000)
8. Lorde - "Team" (125,000)
9. Bastille - "Pompeii" (124,000)
10. Idina Menzel - "Let It Go" (118,000)

Aloe Blacc's "The Man" is back on the chart thanks to the it being used in TV commercials for Beats by Dre. The commercials have been airing since November but had a lot of airtime during the NFL playoffs. The first commercial featured basketball player Kevin Garnett. Another had San Francisco 49ers' quarterback Colin Kaepernick and began running in December. It was shown during the 49ers January 12 game against the Carolina Panthers.

Menzel's "Let It Go" comes from Disney's Frozen soundtrack, as it appears in the film (she also voices a character). Another version of the song by Demi Lovato fell 25-36 with 54,000. Menzel's performance is the one featured in the movie while Lovato's version plays over the end credits.

Digital track sales this week totaled 25.6 million downloads, down 16% compared to last week (30.6 million) and down 11% compared to last year (28.8 million). Year-to-date track sales are at 56.2 million, down 11% compared with the same total at this point last year (63.4 million).
