Neil Young and Jack White Reportedly Work Together On Covers Album
Posted by Joseph Lee on 01.17.2014

Journalist Michael Goldberg wrote on his blog that Neil Young and Jack White have worked together on a new covers album. Young was in Nashville last April and recorded Bert Jansch's "Needle of Death" at the Third Man Recording Booth on Record Store Day. Sometime after that the two recorded the album together, which will be released on Third Man Records and maybe Warner Bros.

In December 2013, Neil Young fan website Thrasher's Wheat quoted a source that said: "It is an album of covers. In it, as anticipated, he pays tribute to other renowned singer-songwriters. There are 12 tracks on it. There are no Neil Young originals…"

The album will probably include "Needle of Death," as well as Phil Ochs "Changes" Bob Dylan's "Blowin' in the Wind," Gordon Lightfoot's "Early Morning Rain," Ivory Joe Hunter's "Since I Met You Baby" and Tim Hardin's "Reason To Believe." These are all songs that Young played at the 2013 Farm Aid concert. He also played "Changes" and "Needle of Death" during his Carnegie Hall Shows, as well as Massey Hall in Toronto on January 12, 2014.
