UPDATED x6: Justin Bieber Arrested For DUI, Drag Racing And Resisting Arrest
Posted by Joseph Lee on 01.23.2014

UPDATE 6: MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) have issued a statement calling for Bieber to be prosecuted to the fill extent of the law for his DUI arrest. The group posted the following on their website:

"Today, we heard about another celebrity being arrested for DUI, and this time it's a celebrity that isn't even of legal drinking ageó19-year-old Justin Bieber. Underage drinking is dangerous, not to mention illegal, and it is unacceptable for anyone to make the choice to drive drunk, especially a celebrity, who may been seen as a role model.

Drunk driving is a choice, and it is 100-percent preventable.

As with any drunk driving arrest, MADD believes everyone has the right to a fair trial, and if found guilty, should be convicted and sentenced to the full extent of the law. We encourage judges to use the full power provided by law in each state to determine appropriate sanctions for anyone convicted of drunk driving.

Our hope that a high-profile DUI arrest such as this one will serve as a reminder to adults 21 and over, both celebrities and fans alike, to plan ahead for a safe way home if their plans include alcohol, as well as reminds those under 21 that drinking alcohol is illegal."

UPDATE 5: Dana White has weighed in on Justin Bieber's arrest for DUI, drag racing and resisting arrest. MMAjunkie reports that White said that he's sympathetic to Bieber's behavior and that it is, if not defensible, understandable.

"Imagine if you had a zillion dollars when you were 19," White said to a group of reporters when asked. "I'd be dead already...It's got to be hard to keep it together, especially if you don't have the right people around you."

UPDATE 4: TMZ continues to report on the story, noting that Bieber told police that his mother gave him the prescription medication that he took before his arrest. According to law enforcement sources, Beiber admitted during questioning that he was under the influence of prescription meds, alcohol and marijuana. When asked when medications he was on, Bieber said he had anti-anxiety medications, but didn't know what kind because he takes what his mother gives him.

Whether Bieber has a prescription for the meds or not isn't known, but if he doesn't than it is illegal. Xanax was found in his house when police raided it after his egging attack on a neighbor earlier this month.

UPDATE x3: According to TMZ, Justin Bieber posted bail and left the jail at around 2:30PM ET. When leaving, he climbed on top of an SUV and waved to fans.

UPDATE x2: TMZ reports that during Justin Bieber's breathalyzer test he blew a .04. This wouldn't cause him to be charged for DUI if he were over the age of 21. However, Bieber is 19 and Florida has a zero tolerance policy for underage drivers who drunk. Higher than a .02 is cause for an automatic license suspension. He was arrested for DUI for both drugs and alcohol, and if they affected his driving then he can be convicted of DUI.

TMZ also reports that Justin Bieber had his first appearance over the matter in Miami Beach court today, where he made a point to roll up his sleeves to show off his muscles and tattoos.

He appeared on closed circuit TV as the judge set his bail at $2,500. Bieber said nothing during the hearing. Bieber hired attorney Roy Black for the case, who helped William Kennedy Smith avoid conviction for rape and has also represented Rush Limbaugh and Kelsey Grammer. He will post bail soon.

UPDATE: TMZ reports that Justin Bieber's father Jeremy helped his son with his drag racing that got him arrested. Jeremy was not only on the scene when Justin was arrested, but he helped block off the street so his son could drag race.

Jeremy was in the SET nightclub just before the arrest with Justin and was around him all day, including when Justin was smoking marijuana.

Meanwhile, you can see photo of Bieber's mug shot here.

Original: TMZ reports that Justin Bieber was arrested for DUI early this morning. He was intoxicated and resisted arrest, cursing at police and dropping several f bombs. He was also arrested for resisting arrest without violence, drag racing and driving on an expired license. Police believe that Bieber was under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

They held a news conference and said: "[Justin] made statements he had consumed some alcohol, been smoking marijuana and consumed some prescription medication."

The police report states that police approached Bieber's car and noticed he smelled like alcohol and had bloodshot eyes. He also had a "stupor" look on his face. At one point he yelled at police: "Why the f**k are you doing this?. What the f**k did I do. Why did you stop me?"

During a pat down, he added: "I ain't got no f**king weapons, why do you have to search me? What the f**k is this about?"

He claimed he wasn't drunk and was leaving the studio after recording music. This isn't true, as he was at a club.

Before the pat down, as Bieber got out of the car, he "kept going into his pants pocket". The arresting officer ordered him to put his hands on the car, which he did but later took them off and cussed at the cop. He was then grabbed by the right arm, which he pulled away and asked, "What the f**k are you doing?" Bieber was driving between 55 and 60 MPH in a 30 MPH residential area.

Bieber is currently in custody at the police department where he is being tested to measure his blood alcohol level. He was given a field sobriety test at the scene and failed. He will go to jail next, getting booked and processed before bail is set.

He had just left the SET nightclub and was driving a yellow Lamborghini at the time he was pulled over. One of his people actually blocked the street off so he could drag race. The person Bieber was racing, Def Jam records rapper Khalil, was also arrested. He was driving a red Ferrari. Bieber had a passenger in his car, model Chantel Jeffries, who has dated several celebrities in the past (including an NFL player). The police stopped them for drag racing and then found out Bieber was driving under the influence. A photo was later posted to Instagram from before the arrest showing Jeffries and Bieber in the car.

You can see photos of Bieber just before the arrest here.
