Shakira Tops This Week’s Billboard Social 50 Chart
Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 01.30.2014

Billboard reports that Shakira grabbed the No. 1 spot on this week's Billboard Social 50 chart. Also Justin Bieber went up from 4-2.

Bieber's recent legal issues dominated the headlines, pushing him up the chart from 4-2 this week. Bieber was arrested for Dui on Thursday, January 23. The news dominated the headlines in the following days. Bieber received more than 4 million tweets that were exchanged between users on Twitter about his arrest.

Shakira jumped up from 5-1 on the list. It's her second time at No. 1 in her career and the first time at No. 1 since February 9, 2013. Shakira made the jump after sharing a photo of her baby on social media, which received 2.1 million post-likes. She also released the Spanish version of her single with Rihanna, "Nunca Me Acuerdo de Olvidarte" on VEVO on Jan. 22. The video received over 1 million viewers.

Pitbull also made it into the top 10 this week. He was heavily featured in the press this week after the Jan. 24 announcement that his track "We Aare One (Ole Ola)" was selected as the official song for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, which starts in Brazil this June. The track features Jennifer Lopez and Brazilian singer Claudie Leitte.

Rounding out the top 10: Miley Cyrus dropped down from 1-3; Ariana Grande moved up from 6-4; Katy Perry moved up from 8-6; One Direction remained at No. 7; Rihanna went down from 3-8; Eminem went up from 10-9; and Britney spears rose up from 16-10 to close out the group.
