Red Hot Chili Peppers Discusses Appearance on Tinariwen's New Album
Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 02.01.2014

Speaking to Rolling Stone, Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Josh Klinghoffer talked about his work as a guest for the new album from the Mali musicians, Tinariwen.

Klinghoffer worked on two tracks from the group's sixth album, Emmaar, due out later this month. He said on his appearance, "It doesn't sound like some guy wanking all over their music."

He added: "I was a little self-conscious because I don't necessarily like it when a white musician from LA steps on this beautiful, organic African thing. If I heard that was happening, I would probably roll my eyes. But being that it was me, I seized the moment and I played whatever I felt at the time, and it was really natural. It sounds like Tinariwen."
