Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the group's US debut...
The New York Port Authority is honoring the fiftieth anniversary of the Beatles touching down in the United States with a new historical marker. Radio.com reports that the Authority will commemorate the anniversary of the group's US debut on The Ed Sullivan Show with a ceremony at the Central Terminal Area at John F. Kennedy Airport. That location is where the group had their first press conference.
The event will take place on February 7th and include a historical marker being unveiled honoring the band's US arrival. It is one of several events honoring the anniversary and have included a Grammy performance with Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, a performance by the two at the Los Angeles Convention Center last week that airs on CBS on February 9th and a week-long tribute this week on The Late Show with David Letterman.
