Pharrell Williams To Perform At The Oscars
Posted by Joseph Lee on 02.04.2014

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Pharrell Williams will perform "Happy" (from Despicable Me 2) at the Academy Awards on the Dolby Theater stage. Williams has also been a music consultant for the show. "Happy" is nominated for Best Original Song.

Williams previously released a 24-hour music video song (the first ever), with an online playback that goes along with the local time of the listener. The video features guest appearances from Odd Future's Tyler, the Creator and Earl Sweatshirt, Steve Martin, Steve Carell and more.

If Williams wins, he will be the third rapper to get an Oscar after Eminem for "Lose Yourself" (from 8 Mile) and Three Six Mafia for "It's Hard Out Here For A Pimp" (from Hustle & Flow). Other nominees in Best Original Song include U2's "Ordinary Love" (Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom), Karen O's "The Moon Song" (Her) and "Let It Go" from Disney's Frozen, with versions by Idina Menzel and Demi Lovato. The event will be hosted by Ellen DeGeneres and will be produced by Craig Zadan and Neil Meron. It airs on March 2 on ABC.
