Prince Says He's Planning on Charging $10 a Ticket For Upcoming Tour
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 02.06.2014

Prince may be known for holding onto his music rights with an iron fist, but he's not all about the money. The BBC reports that the Purple One revealed during a secret show in London that he plans on charging around ten dollars per ticket for his upcoming performances with his new band, 3RDEYEGIRL.

Prince said during the show, "We want to charge about $10 a ticket -- this is a new band, people are getting something new. We've been together for over a year, and it's perfect. The more we play, the more fun it is and addictive it is."

He added that he's planning on playing "iconic venues" around London but won't be getting to arenas just yet, noting they would "work our way up, if people like us, to bigger venues."

He added that he will record all the live shows and when asked about the lawsuit he dropped last week targeting twenty-two people who had shared bootlegs of his 1980s concerts online, "Nobody sues their fans. I have some bootlegs of Lianne, but I wouldn't sell them. But fans sharing music with each other -- that's cool."

He did not that he doesn't want fans to pirate his unreleased Paisley Park Records material, saying, "When you hear something [bootlegged] you're just hearing something that's not finished. A song from 1985 might come out in 2021. I have a whole organization who look after stuff."
