Gary Oldman Says He Did David Bowie's Music Video For Free
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 02.10.2014

Gary Oldman says he did David Bowie's music video for "The Next Day" essentially for free. Oldman played a priest in the video alongside Bowie and Marion Cotillard and told the Daily Mail that Bowie asked him to do it via an email.

Oldman said about the role, "Dave just shot me an email, out of the blue, saying, 'Do you want to come and play a priest for a day?'" said the actor. "It was all done for a sandwich and a bottle of pop. We actually shot it in a place that's about 10 minutes from my house. There was no money in it."

The song was the third single off Bowie's album of the same name from last year, with the video drawing some controversy for its use of religious iconography.
