Pharrell Williams' New Album G.I.R.L. Arriving Next Month
Posted by Joseph Lee on 02.19.2014

Billboard reports that Pharrell Williams' new album G.I.R.L., his debut with Columbia Records, will be released on March 3. It features the hit song "Happy", which Pharrell will perform tonight at the BRIT awards in London.

Pharrell said: "When Columbia Records presented me with the opportunity to make an album, three things came to mind. One was the sense of overwhelming honor that I felt when I realized that they were interested in partnering with me on the album that I had always dreamt of making. Two, it would have to feel festive and urgent. And three, I instantly knew it would be called 'G I R L'. I hope you like it."

Pharrell has been present as a collaborator on several hits, including Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" (with T.I.) and Daft Punk's "Get Lucky" (with Nile Rodgers). G.I.R.L. will be his first solo album since 2006's In My Mind. That album was released through Interscope. You can pre-order the album here.

Pharrell will also perform "Happy" at the 86th Academy Awards, at Germany's Wetten Das and France's Le Grand Journal. On Sunday, he played a medley of his songs at the NBC All-Star Game. "Happy" is featured on the Despicable Me soundtrack and is the highest-charting Oscar-nominated song since Eminem's "Lose Yourself" over ten years ago. It is #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and has sold over 2.3 million downloads worldwide.
