Irish Band The Strypes Claim Simon Cowell Is Destroying Music

And manipulating young minds...
In an interview with ES Magazine (via The Evening Standard), Irish band The Strypes have accused Simon Cowell of "destroying music" and "manipulating naïve young minds". They call themselves "the anti-One Direction".
Bassist Pete O'Hanlon said: "It's annoying that he has the power to make artfully unintelligent music huge, and tell everyone that is what you should listen to. Destroying music isn't funny, OK?"
Drummer Evan Walsh added: "He's just a w***er. It's the manipulation of naïve young minds as well."
They band released their debut album Snapshot and it hit #5 in the UK. The received strong reviews was called "a scintillating shot of roughneck rhythm and blues" by The Independent. Elton John signed them to Rocket Music based on their Youtube video.
Guitarist Josh McClorey said they met him a few times "but mainly we just talk about the weather". The band said they were told by John to "work hard and enjoy it. Carry on writing your own songs and just enjoy the ride."
