As I Lay Dying Singer Pleads Guilty Of Trying To Have His Wife Murdered
Posted by Joseph Lee on 02.25.2014

Billboard reports that As I Lay Dying singer Tim Lambesis pleaded guilty today to felony murder solicitation after he hired an undercover agent (who was posing as a hit man named "Red") to murder his wife Meggan. Lambeisis previously denied the charge but now faces nine years in prison. A sentencing hearing is set for May 2.

He was arrested in May 2013. He gave the sheriff's deputy $1,000, his wife's address and front door security code, all under the arrangement that the "hit man" would kill her. The prosecutor said that he agreed to pay $20,000 when the task was completed. When asked if he wanted to confirm that he wanted her dead, he replied: "Yes, that's exactly what I want."

Before the sting, he spoke with his personal trainer and said he wanted her dead. He mentioned that she made it hard for him to see their three adopted children and was slowing down their divorce proceedings. That's when the trainer contacted the police and a meeting with "Red" was set up. The two had been married for eight years. In their divorce papers, Meggan said Tim was "obsessed with bodybuilding" and "spending money irresponsibly". She later found out that he was involved in an affair. In September, a defense attorney said that his use of steroids affected his judgement.
