Live Nation Shoots Down Reports that Lady Gaga's Tour is Flopping
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 03.06.2014

Live Nation has slammed reports claiming that Lady Gaga's current tour is struggling. A new report claims that tickets for the June show was "flopping" and that Live Nation has lost over $30 million on the ARTPOP Ball tour, both of which Live Nation Global Touring divison chairman Arthur Fogal called "ridiculous."

Fogel told Billboard that ticket sales for North America and Europe are at 80% capacity sold, with the American tour still having a ways to go before it begins in May. He added, "The run with Gaga over the last two tours has been incredibly successful, and this one is shaping up no differently," noting that Live Nation will announce an additional six Gaga shows in North America in the coming weeks, along with more dates in the U.K.

Fogel noted that the twenty-nine North American shows have generated $26 million in ticket sales and said of the Milwaukee report, "When something like Milwaukee specifically comes up, that show has sold 14,264 tickets, the gross is $961,000, and it's at the end of June. I just don't know how this shit gets any traction without people doing their homework."

In regard to the reports of Live Nation losing money he added, "Just a complete fool would say something like that, and it could only come from somebody who has an agenda, because it makes absolutely no sense, on any level...Forget $30 million, if it were actually true, you'd say 'pull the plug.'"
