Pharrell Williams Signs Deal with Adidas
Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 03.27.2014

Pharrell Williams and Adidas have announced via an official press release and YouTube clip that Pharrell has signed a deal with Adidas. Pharrell and Adidas will work together to develop some new apparel pieces.

Pharrell said in the statement: "Working with a brand like Adidas is such an incredible opportunity. From the classic track suit to growing up in Virginia wearing Stan Smiths [sneakers], Adidas has been a staple in my life. Their pieces are timeless. This is an exciting partnership for both me and Bionic Yarn."

Adidas will work with Williams' textile company, Bionic Yarn, to release several pieces from Pharrell's Adidas line that will debut this summer. Bionic Yarn recycles plastic and transforms it into fabric. That fabric will be used for Pharrell's pieces.

Dirk Schonberger, global creative director Adidas Sport Style, stated on the announcement: "I am truly thrilled to work with Pharrell. He is a pop culture icon that never fails to inspire, not just through his musical talent and craft, but through his many other interests. He is the perfect fit for the multifaceted company that is Adidas."

Pharrell is more than perfect, an artist that's as appreciated in the street style world as he is in a recording studio. His Billionaire Boys Club clothing line has been a staple buy amongst peers like Jay Z. And he's collaborated with houses as varied as Louis Vuitton to Reebok, creating a now defunct Ice Cream sneakers line. There's no doubt that this latest pairing will lead to fruitful, appealing results.
