Help him celebrate...
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gene Simmons wants your help to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Kiss. KISS is working with Tongal (which teams up creatives and brands to crowdsource the "pitch-and-development" process) and asking both content creators and fans to give their best ideas for "how Kiss should celebrate their 40th anniversary in the most epic way possible."
Tongal's brand usually includes idea brainstorming and pitch processes before creating a commercial or campaign. Past projects included a Star Wars-themed commercial for Pringles and a Speed Stick commercial that aired during the 2013 Super Bowl.
The KISS project is part of the new service Left Field, which lets brands contact creators and fans through social media to come up with ideas.
Simmons said: "We've always been about the fans. Tongal allows our fans to throw out ideas, and you know you're going to make something authentic. One person doesn't play every instrument. You contribute where you're skilled."
Simmons announced the campaign during an appearance at Tongal's first-ever award show (the Tongies) last night at the El Rey Theater. He gave the award for Best Original Song in a campaign. Other awards included Best Broadcast Spot, Best Comedy, Best Idea and Video of the Year. Those who participate in Tongal projects get paid if they submit the winning idea. Tongal expects to may over $15 million this year.
Tongal co-founder and president James DeJulio added: "Like any great brand, Kiss' fans have supported them and been a part of their lives forever. This campaign creates another deep connection with the band."
