Al Jazeera (via NME) reports that the CIA used Red Hot Chili Peppers' music to torture prisoners in Guantanamo Bay. US officials, who chose to remain anonymous, revealed the details of methods used by the CIA during the George Bush administration. It was after the declassification process for the report on the administration's "enhanced interrogation" methods used after September 11. One of the torture techniques is to play the Chili Peppers on repeat.
The Senate Intelligence Committee report said a suspect named Zayn al-Abidin Muhammad Husayn Abu Zubaydah was forced to listen to the music at a black site prison in the area between May and July in 2002. Abu Zubaydah was also put inside a pet crate and tied by his wrists to the ceiling of his cell while loud music played non-stop in the background.
