Ed Sheeran Announces Solo Tour Dates
Posted by Joseph Lee on 04.14.2014

Billboard reports that Ed Sheeran has announced the dates for his first ever tour of North America, following an appearance on Saturday Night Live. It also follows a week in which he released the first single ("Sing") from his second album and made the cover of Billboard magazine. The tour, which supports the album (called x, out June 23), will begin on August 22 in Seattle. It includes fifteen shows, with more dates coming soon. Tickets go on sale on April 25.

"Sing" is set to debut on the top 40 of the Hot 100. During his SNL appearance, he performed both "Sing" and "Saturdays", which is also new. Sheeran performed with a full band instead of his usual acoustic motif.

Taylor Swift (who used to tour with Sheeran) previously said that he might switch to a bigger live sound. She said: "A few months ago we were in Germany and Ed came along to surprise the crowd with his song 'I See Fire,' which is a huge hit there. It was the first time he'd played with a full band, and I saw this spark in his eye. I have a feeling the production of his live show will expand over the next few years, and I can't wait to see it every step of the way."

Here are the tour dates:

Aug. 23 -- Vancouver, BC (Ambleside Live)
