Willie Nelson and Stevie Ray Vaughn were among the first inductees into Austin City Limits Hall of Fame last night. The AP reports that the two were inducted along with Double Trouble, show producer Bill Arhos and former University of Texas football coach Darrell Royal.
Speaking of Nelson (who was the first Austin City Limits performer in 1974), Matthew McConaughey said, "There would be no Austin City Limits without Willie Nelson."
Royal's "pickin' parties" with songwriters after games helped inspire the show, which is the longest currently-running music TV program in the United States.
Nelson said during the induction, "It means a lot. It's Austin City Limits and Austin - the music capital of the world."
