The Beatles' 1964 film A Hard Day's Night is getting a nationwide theatrical screening on July 4th. Janus Films, who are known for their restoration and re-introduction of some of the most important films in cinema into American culture, have announced that the music film will play in over fifty cities nationwide on Independence Day in a 4K resolution digitally-restored version. The remastering was conducted by the Criterion Collection restoration team and approved by director Richard Lester, with the soundtrack remixed and remastered at Abbey Road.
The film stars all four Beatles and includes eight songs from the group; it received Oscar nominations for the script and score and listed among Time magazine's 100 greatest films of all-time.
