Iggy Azalea lands in the top three...
Disney's Frozen soundtrack is at #1 for the 12th week on the Billboard 200. It sold 115,000 copies for the week, down 56% from last week (259,000). It's the eighth album to get at least twelve weeks at #1 since Soundscan started tracking sales in 1991, and the fourteenth soundtrack to do so since the Billboard 200 started publishing weekly in 1956.
The album has sold a total of 2.5 million copies. It's the first album to get two million in 2014, with 2.1 for the year. It was released in November and sold 338,000 last year. It took six months for Justin Timberlake's The 20/20 Experience to reach the mark on June 23, the first of 2013 to do so. Frozen is also the only album to have sold a million copies this year, with Beyonce's self-titled album in second place (648,000). Finally, Frozen makes up 2.6% of albums sold this year and 5.4 percent of all current (non-catalog) albums.
Iggy Azalea's The New Classic was predicted to land at #2, but it was defeated by Future's album Honest by only a a thousand albums. The New Classic sold 52,000 copies to land at #3. It includes the hit single "Fancy" (ft. Charli XCX) which is up 37-18 on the Hot 100. Azalea got her first hit on July 20 when "Work" debuted on the Bubbling Under Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. It then peaked at #35 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. The New Classic is the highest-charting rap album by a female since Nicki Minaj's Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded debuted at #1 on April 21, 2012. Azalea also has the highest-charting album for a female rapper since Minaj's Pink Friday debuted at #2 (and later climbed to #1 on February 19, 2011).
