Posted by Joseph Lee on 05.06.2014

billboard reports that this year's inductees into the Hip-Hop Hall of Fame include The Sugar Hill Gang, Charles Ahearn and the film, "Wildstyle," Mr. Magic, Busy Bee, Spoonie G & The Treacherous Three, Sequence, Cornbread, Mercedes Ladies, DJ Hollywood, The Twins, Stay High 149, and Ernie Paniccioli. Video Music Box creator Ralph McDaniels will ge the Lifetime Achievement Award and DJ E-Z Rock will get an all-star tribute performance. The ceremony happens on May 19. Talib Kweli, Brand Nubian, Slick Rick, MC Busy Bee, Nine and Rakim will all perform.

DJ E-Z Rock (real name Rodney Bryce) died at the age of 46 on April 27. Rock and Rob Base's "It Takes Two" peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot Dance/Club Songs chart in 1988. It helped the album, also called It Takes Two, go platinum.

JT Thompson, Hip Hop Hall of Fame founder, said: "The artists, groups, deejays, b-boys/girls, graffiti artists and entrepreneurs being inducted have all made significant contributions to the birth, establishment, and advancement of the hip hop culture. This Awards show is going to be memorable and will go down in music history."

Rapper Roxanne Shante and DJ Mell Star will host. It happens at Stage 48 in midtown Manhattan.
