One-Fourth of All Tracks on Spotify Skipped Within Five Seconds
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 05.09.2014

According to a new study, Spotify users are a fickle bunch. The study from analysis company The Echo Nest reveals that over 25% of all songs on the streaming music service are skipped within the first five seconds.

According to the results, which looked at billions of plays from around the world, the average user skips a song every four minutes and has a 48.6% chance of skipping a song at some point before it ends. The habits were the same across gender lines, with mobile users 10% more likely to skip a track than those listening via computers. The highest rates (which were at 50%-plus) came from teenagers and adults in their late forties or over.
