It's "very West African"...
Robert Plant has dropped some new details about his upcoming solo album. The album, which was announced earlier this month, will be his first since 2010's Band of Joy and will be released on September 9th. Plant spoke with Rolling Stone and revealed some details about the LP's sound.
"It's really a celebratory record, but it's very crunchy and gritty, very West African and very Massive Attack-y," the former Led Zeppelin frontman said. "There's a lot of bottom end, so it might sound alright at a Jamaican party, but I'm not sure it would sound alright on NPR."
He also discussed working with label Nonesuch, with whom he will release the LP. Plant noted, "I'm pleased to find such a reputable home for our renegade departures. The support and encouragement we have received has been strong and refreshing."
