Eminem, Lil B & Three 6 Mafia Make the Most Drug References in Hip-Hop
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 05.13.2014

Have you ever wondered who are the most drug-referencing rappers in the game? According to a new study it's Eminem, Lil B and Three 6 Mafia. Project Know has conducted a new study and found that the three use the most drug lyrics, depending on what kind of drug we're looking at.

Lil B tops the list for references to cocaine and MDMA while Em drops the most prescription drug references. Three 6 Mafia are the most pot-referencing act out there. The group, which is a drug advisory and education organization, used RapGenius in order to tally the drug references.

A statement from the group reads, "Prevalence in this context is the total number of rap songs containing a given phrase in a year divided by the total number of rap songs in that year. We have opted to leave out certain substances and slang phrases to prevent our results from being skewed by slang phrases that are often used in other contexts. As an example, heroin is commonly referred to as ‘boy,' but the word ‘boy' is also used in a variety of contexts that have nothing to do with heroin."

Also ranking high were Death Grips and Ice-T (cocaine), Lil Wayne and Lupe Fiasco (MDMA) and (to no one's surprise) Afroman and The Roots for pot.
