Black Keys could get their first chart topper…
Billboard reports that the new albums for the Black Keys and the late Michael Jackson are in the running for the top slot on next week's Billboard 200 chart.
Black Keys' new album, Turn Blue, reportedly has the edge over Jackson's Xscape but not a huge margin. Industry forecasters say Turn Blue could sell more than 150,000 copies for the week ending May 18. Xscape could sell up to 140,000 copies. Both albums were released on May 13. The new top 10 for the Billboard 200 will be released on Wednesday, May 21.
This could be the first chart-topper for the Black Keys. Their best-selling album was the 2011 release El Camino, which sold 1.4 million copies total and started at No. 2 with 206,000 copies.
If Xscape makes No. 1, it would be Jackson's seventh No. 1 album. Jackson passed away in 2009, and this is his second posthumous album of previously unreleased material.
Other albums likely to have high debuts are Rascal Flatts' Rewind, Dolly Parton's Blue Smoke, and Tori Amos' Unrepentant Geraldines.
