For trying to murder his wife...
The Guardian reports that former As I Lay Dying singer Tim Lambesis has been sentenced to six years in prison for soliciting the murder of his wife Meggan in February.
The two had separated and he claimed that his wife cut off access to their three adopted children. He was angry about the money she was set to get in a divorce settlement. He told a man at a gym that he wanted her killed twice and met with an undercover detective. He gave the cop $1000, photos of his wife and security codes for her house.
His former bandmates Nick Hipa, Phil Sgrosso and Josh Gilbert were at the San Diego superior courtroom to see Judge Carlos Armour deliver the sentence. Her father, Mike Murphy, told the court that the family still believed she and her children were in danger. He said: "We know that prison is a great alibi for someone who wants to complete the deed.
The judge agreed and said Meggan and her children should get ten years' probation.
Lambesis said: ""I do feel deep remorse. I want to thank you. For her prayers, which proves you still have the heart that you do."
