Michael Jackson's Billboard Music Award Hologram Performance Confirmed
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 05.18.2014

A digital version of Michael Jackson will take the stage at the Billboard Music Awards tonight. As the LA Times reports, a hologram of the late King of Pop will perform the song "Slave to the Rhythm" off Jackson's new posthumous album Xscape at the awards show, which takes place in Las Vegas and will air live on ABC.

The producers tried to keep the performance as a surprise but Hologram USA Inc and Musion Das Hologram Ltd, who made the Tupac Shakur hologram at Coachella in 2012, had filed a lawsuit to block the performance. The judge in the case ruled that there wasn't enough evidence to prove the plaintiff's claims that their patents were being used without permission.

Xscape released last week and is set to hit #1 on the UK charts. It is in a close competition with the Black Keys' Turn Blue for the Billboard #1 spot in the US as well.
