Consequence of Sound reports that the Foo Fighters played a surprise show in New Orleans last night (May 17). They played at the Preservation Hall.
Arcade Fire's Win Butler and Regine Chassagne were also in attendance and also joined the Preservation Hall Jazz Band onstage for a rendition of "Iko Iko" as the band opened for the Foot Fighters. The Preservation Hall Jazz Band then joined the Foo Fighters onstage with Trombone Shorty for a brass-assisted version of "This Is A Call."
During the show, Dave Grohl talked about the band's recording process for the band's new album with the crowd. Grohl stated: "We've been to a lot of great places, we've jammed with a lot of great people. But this week in this city has changed our band forever."
The band was recording with producer Butch Vig in the venue before the show. The Foo Fighters' new album is due out this fall.
