They aren’t distinguished enough…
The Daily Mail reports that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West were refused permission to marry in the Palace of Versailles. However, the couple does plan on visiting the site on the eve of their wedding.
According to a spokesman for the French national monument, Kardashian and West were not considered distinguished enough for an official ceremony and celebration. They can "enjoy a guided tour," though, with family and friends on Friday night "after all the tourists have gone home."
The news now means West and Kardashian are free to marry in Florence, but their hearts were said have been set on the Palace of Versailles. Palace of Versailles president Catherine Pegard said the event "wasn't possible," but a formal visit would be welcome publicity. In a statement she added: "Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have decided to visit the Chateau of Versailles with their guests in a private surprise tour organised for Friday, May 23rd, on the eve of their marriage. In making this choice, they will contribute once more to a better understanding of Versailles, and will help to maintain the exceptional heritage of Versailles, which is classed as a world heritage site by Unesco."
The couple and their guests would then be shown around Versailles and its gardens and would also be free to have a meal at a nearby restaurant or hotel.
