He doesn't think they're a good choice...
In an interview with Time Out (via NME), Alex Turner of the Arctic Monkeys said that Metallica headlining Glastonbury "does not add up". The band will headline the second night of the 2014 festival, joined by Arcade Fire and Kasabian. Arctic Monkeys headlined the festival (for the second time) last year.
Turner said: "I'm not sure it adds up. I know we'd buzz off it, but fundamentally could you have Metallica in the hippy nucleus?"
He also spoke about his first time at the festival. He added: "I did the stone circle thing. I was dressed as a crocodile because Lily Allen had a load of fancy dress costumes. I remember wrestling James from Klaxons in the mud as the sun rose."
Metallica is the first metal artist to headline the event since it started 44 years ago. The event happens in Worthy Farm with Metallica performing on June 28, after Arcade Fire (June 27) but before Kasabian (June 29). Serge Pizzorno and Tom Meighan of Kasabian previously said the booking of Metallica was a "bold" move that will pay off.
