A new video for an old song...
NME reports that Led Zeppelin have released a new video for their 1969 song "Whole Lotta Love". The video has footage from several live performances of the song. It is a version called "Rough Mix with Vocal" and will be on a remastered version of Led Zeppelin II along with re-releases of Led Zeppelin I and Led Zeppelin III. The rough mix was recorded during an eight month session in 1969 at several studios by producer and guitarist Jimmy Page. Page has handled the remastering and additional songs for the albums, which will be out on June 2. Each album has a second disc with unreleased studio and live songs.
Page said: "It's the mix from the night we recorded it, so it doesn't have any of the overdubs everyone will be familiar with."
Bassist John Paul Jones added: "It hadn't developed into the juggernaut it became in later years. But it's fresher, I think."
Singer Robert Plant said: "You can see how songs grow. There are five or six other takes which aren't present, so the shaping of these things is very interesting. With this particular version, we hadn't reached the point yet, but it's very, very close."
