Iggy Azalea Reaches #1 On Billboard Hot 100, Ties The Beatles For Chart Record
Posted by Joseph Lee on 05.28.2014

Iggy Azalea is not only at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with "Fancy", but thanks to guesting on Ariana Grande's "Problem" (which is up to #2), she has now tied a record with The Beatles. The Beatles and Iggy Azalea are now the only two acts to have their first two songs at #1 and #2 on the Hot 100 at the same time. The band did it on February 22, 1964 with "I Want To Hold Your Hand" at #1 and "She Loves You" at #2. The songs debuted on January 18 and 25, 1964 and jumped up the chart thanks to a performance on February 9 on The Ed Sullivan Show.

Azalea is also the fourth female rapper to get to the top of the chart (behind Lauryn Hill, Lil Kim and Shawnna). She's the fifteenth act to get #1 and #2 in the same week, the last being Pharrell Williams (Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" and Daft Punk's "Get Lucky". Finally, she's the third woman to rank at #1 and #2 after Mariah Carey (September 10, 2005) and Ashanti (five weeks in 2002).

Coming in at #3 is John Legend's "All Of Me", followed by Pharrell's "Happy" and DJ Snake and Lil Jon's "Turn Down For What". In the second half of the chart, Katy Perry's "Dark Horse" lands at #6, followed by Jason Derulo's "Talk Dirty", Nico & Vinz' "Am I Wrong", Justin Timberlake's "Not A Bad Thing" and Derulo's "Wiggle".

1. Iggy Azalea (ft. Charli XCX) - "Fancy"
