Mike D Says the Beastie Boys Are Done
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 06.03.2014

This probably won't be much of a suprise to enthusiasts of the band, but the Beastie Boys are officially done. Mike D told the New York Daily News that he and Ad-Rock won't be making new music under the band's name following Adam "MCA" Yauch's death in 2012.

Mike (real name Michael Diamond) told the paper, "We have not been able to tour since MCA, Adam Yauch, died. We can't make new music."

The revelation came as part of his explanation of the band's lawsuit against Monster Energy. MCA's will stipulated that "Notwithstanding anything to the contrary, in no event may my image or name or any music or any artistic property created by me be used for advertising purposes." The band intends to honor that and will not continue as under the Beastie Boys.

Mike also revealed that the two denied Arnold Schwarzenegger the use of "Sabotage" in his film of the same name, saying, "It felt like too much of an endorsement. We weren't fans of Mr. Schwarzenegger's recent ... work."

No word on if the two will continue under a new name, or if they're calling it quits altogether.
