They disagree with the verdict...
As we previously reported, Monster beverage Corp lost $1.7 million to the Beastie Boys in a lawsuit over a video created by Monster that used five Beastie songs without their knowledge or permission. It was called a "Beastie Boys Megamix" and had the message "RIP MCA" to promote a show in 2012. Adam "MCA" Yauch said in his will that his likeness or art (including what he did with the Beasties) could not be used in advertising.
The company plans to appeal the verdict. They wrote: "Although Monster Energy has great respect for the verdict of the jury, we strongly disagree with it. We will make an application to the Court to set aside the verdict and we intend to file an appeal. From the inception, Monster Energy has been willing to resolve this matter in a fair and equitable manner and we will continue to make additional efforts to reach a just resolution of this dispute."
