Jennifer Lopez Will Kick Off The World Cup After All
Posted by Joseph Lee on 06.11.2014

In an interview with The Associated Press (via Billboard), Jennifer Lopez revealed that she planned to fly to Brazil yesterday to perform at the opening ceremony for the World Cup on Thursday. FIFA officials had previously announced that Lopez wouldn't perform the game's official song ("We Are One (Ola Ola)") with Pitbull and Claudia Leitte, but it seems that she will after all.

She said: "I'm coming. I leave tonight. We always were going. I think people get anxious, especially with me and my schedule when I'm like, `Ah, OK, I can leave this day, that day, I don't know if we can make it.' People get nervous and I think it was a little bit premature to announce anything. But we are definitely going."

The performance will happen before the opening game between Brazil and Croatia in Sao Paulo. Lopez said the song was put together by Pitbull who invited her to take part. The two previously worked together on "Dance Again" and "On The Floor".

She added: "I can't take credit for this. This was one of Pitbull's call-ins. He had this record and he's like, `I think this record could be great for the World Cup. He's like, `Will you do it with me?' And I go, `Yeah, of course.' I'm so lucky that he gave me the opportunity."

Lopez is currently promoting her new album A.K.A., which will be out next week.
