50 Cent and Mastodon Opt to Accept Bitcoin Payments
Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 06.11.2014

Billboard reports that musical artists Mastodon and 50 Cent have confirmed that they will now accept payments in the form of bit coin. Mastodon will accept bit coin payments for their upcoming album Once More 'Round the Sun, and 50 Cent will take them for his new album Animal Ambition.

Speaking on a Reddit AMA, 50 Cent stated, "Technology is what's changing the business gotta get with it. I take money no matter if its coins or dollars."

Mastodon and 50 Cent are the first mainstream artists to accept the virtual currency. Speaking on the news, BitPay Co-founder and Executive Chairman stated, "BitPay is honored to partner with Warner Bros. Records artist Mastodon. Having a major label artist embrace bitcoin is a definite sign of bitcoin's growth and expansion into the world of music."

Once More 'Round the Sun is now available for pre-order for $10.99 or about 0.18 BTC. Speaking on BitPay, the group stated, "We're excited to work with fellow Atlanta-natives BitPay for our new album. We want to give our fans as many options to buy our new album as possible, and are happy that bitcoin can be one of those choices."
