Justin Bieber Makes A Deal In DUI Case
Posted by Joseph Lee on 06.13.2014

TMZ reports that Justin Bieber has finally made a deal in his Miami DUI case. He was charged with DUI, resisting arrest and driving without a valid license. Police claimed he was drag racing while intoxicated in Miami Beach in January, but he wasn't drunk or drag racing. He did, however, test positive for marijuana.

Bieber will plead guilty to reckless driving and the other charges will get dismissed. According to the deal, which will be entered in court in two weeks, Bieber will pay a fine and attend anger management classes. He will not be on probation.

There are two reasons that the deal took so long to finish. The judge wanted Bieber to produce, pay for and star in an anti-drug PSA. Both Bieber's lawyer and the prosecutor thought it was "inappropriate". The judge eventually gave up on that request. Secondly, prosecutors wanted Bieber to attend a drug and alcohol education course, but Bieber's team didn't think he had a substance abuse problem. They felt that if he took the course, it would be the same as admitting he had a problem. They decided to go with an anger management course instead.

Since Bieber will not be on probation, he doesn't risk going to jail for an increased sentence every time he breaks the law, something both Lindsay Lohan and Chris Brown have had to deal with.

Meanwhile, his friend Khalil, who was also arrested at the time, will take the same deal. The only difference is he won't have to attend any classes. When both complete the settlement terms, the reckless driving conviction will be removed from their records.
