And the director's issues...
TMZ and The New York Post report that the music video for Lady Gaga's "Do What U Want" was eventually canceled due to the history of R. Kelly, the video's co-star, and director Terry Richardson's current accusations of sexual assault. The video was originally shot in September for a release last December. After several weeks of delays it was eventually scrapped altogether. Gaga posted a message on her website that blamed bad management ("those who have betrayed me") and schedule issues.
Gaga was reportedly unaware of the claims against Richardson which said he sexually assaulted or harassed models. Several different models made the claims themselves and said his behavior occurred on his sets. An online petition at change.org was set up to ask big brands to stop hiring him.
Richardson, who is in the video taking photos of a nude Gaga (rolling around in newspapers and touching herself), has denied doing anything inappropriate.
The claims led to Gaga and her team to change their minds and decide not to release the video. However, R. Kelly's past has been common knowledge for some time. Not only was he on trial for child pornography (for which he was acquitted), but Chicago writer Jim DeRogatis made several claims in in a Village Voice interview in December. He said there were several "stomach-churning" sexual assault lawsuits in the 1990s and there were "dozens of girls — not one, not two, dozens — with harrowing lawsuits."
A source said: "Gaga had a video directed by an alleged sexual predator, starring another sexual predator. With the theme, ‘I'm going to do whatever I want with your body'? It was literally an ad for rape."
Kelly plays a doctor in the video and Gaga is his patient, which mocks her hip injury last year. She asked Kelly if she will be able to walk again and Kelly replied: "Yes, if you let me do whatever I want with your body. I'm putting you under, and when you wake up, you're going to be pregnant."
The video shows Gaga in a hospital bed as Kelly reaches under her sheet. She moans and he says that the "medicine's starting to kick in". She then passes out and a party starts on top of her body.
You can find the video clip here, but be warned, it's not safe for work.
