Robert Plant Announces New Album And UK Tour
Posted by Joseph Lee on 06.23.2014

NME reports that Led Zeppelin's Robert Plant has announced a new album and tour with his band The Sensational Shape Shifters. The album is called Lullaby and...The Ceaseless Roar and will be released on September 8 and features eleven new songs, nine of which were written by Plant and the rest of the band. The first single, "Rainbow", will be out this summer. It is Plant's first album since 2010's Band of Joy, which followed his 2007 collaboration with Alison Krauss called "Raising Sand". The band's lineup features Justin Adams, John Baggot, Juldeh Camara, Billy Fuller, Dave Smith along with Cast guitarist Liam 'Skin' Tyson.

Plant said: "It's really a celebratory record, powerful, gritty, African, Trance meets Zep. The whole impetus of my life as a singer has to be driven by a good brotherhood. I am very lucky to work with The Sensational Space Shifters. They come from exciting areas of contemporary music…I have been around awhile and I ask myself, do I have anything to say? Is there a song still inside me? In my heart? I see life and what's happening to me. Along the trail there are expectations, disappointments, happiness, questions and strong relationships…and now I'm able to express my feelings through melody, power and trance; together in a kaleidoscope of sound, color and friendship."

They will also perform a tour of the UK and Ireland later this year, a total of thirteen dates. They will perform on the Pyramid Stage on Saturday at Glastonbury at 5:30 PM. Tickets for the tour go on sale on Friday at 9 AM. They are priced at £40 ($68), except London which are £55 ($93) /£40 ($60) and Cambridge, Leeds, Hull, Newcastle and Blackpool are £45 ($76) /£40 ($60).
