Shootings and Stabbing Take Place at BET Awards Pre-Show Parties

One victim is now dead...
THR reports that two violent events occurred during pre-show parties for the BET Awards on Saturday (June 28) and early Sunday (June 29) in Los Angeles. One victim is now confirmed dead from gunshot wounds.
The incidents happened at BET Award pre-show parties held before the event. On Saturday night, a man was stabbed at a BET Awards pre-show party inside Lure Nightclub in Hollywood. Police received news of the stabbing at 8:45PM. A man in his 30s was the victim. He is currently in stable condition at Cedars-Sinai Hospital. There is no suspect information available as of yet.
On Sunday morning at 5:17AM, gunfire broke out at the Monalizza Restaurant in Los Angeles. It was reportedly a pre-party for BET. There were five victims in the incident, and one victim died at a local hospital. No suspect in connection with the incident is in custody.
According to a BET spokesperson, the parties where the violent incidents occurred were "unauthorized and unaffiliated" with official awards events at LA Live. The rep stated, "The two isolated incidents over the weekend occurred at locations with events that were unauthorized and unaffiliated with the BET Awards, BET Experience at L.A. LIVE or their partners. Security remains the number one priority for all official BET events and the network and all organizers will continue to maintain a safe environment for all planned activities."
The BET Awards are set for Sunday at the Nokia Theatre.
