Following up on their show later this year...
As previously reported, Foo Fighters are set to play a gig in Richmond, Virginia later this year as a result of an online crowdfunding campaign by fan Andrew Goldin. Now, Dave Grohl has hinted that more such shows may be on the way. Grohl spoke with 5FM about the upcoming concert and said that crowdfunded performances could be the future of live music.
"I'm telling you, it could become the way that bands decide where they want to play," Grohl said. "It's a fun thing; it sort of changes the game. For the past 20 years we always decided who we're going to play with and where we're going to play. But now, if we hear that people want us to come somewhere, maybe we'll come there."
The band is releasing a new album this November, which was was recorded in eight different studios in eight states across America and features local talent from each place they recorded.
