E! News reports that Taylor Swift is the latest performer announced for the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles. She is planning an "explosive" performance, but details are being kept a secret.
A source said: "It's not a collaboration with another singer."
She joins previously announced performers Usher, Ariana Grande and 5 Seconds of Summer.
Beyonce leads this year's nominations with eight while Eminem and Iggy Azalea have seven each. Video of the Year nominees include Beyoncé's "Drunk In Love," Azalea's "Fancy," Pharrell Williams' "Happy," Sia's "Chandelier" and Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball." Beyonce is also up for Best Female Video ("Partition") and Best Collaboration (with Jay Z for "Drunk in Love"). Sam Smith is nominated for Artist to Watch with "Stay With Me" against 5 Seconds of Summer ("She Looks So Perfect"), Charli XCX ("Boom Clap"), Schoolboy Q ("Man of the Year") and Fifth Harmony ("Miss Movin On").
Swift previously won a VMA in 2009 for Best Female Video for "You Belong to Me" and in 2013 for "I Knew You Were Trouble." This year's ceremony will air on MTV on August 24 at 9 PM in The Forum in Inglewood, California.
