Ex-Weezer Bassist Matt Sharp Records Solo Album, Goes On Tour

When asked how he felt about the band's achievements after his departure, he faintly mumbled "Shut up" and quickly changed the subject.
Former Weezer bassist and Rentals frontman Matt Sharp will hit the road
beginning September 14 in San Diego with a new, self-titled solo album, for
which he's hoping to secure a label deal. Joining Sharp onstage will be
former Cake guitarist Greg Brown.
And, while we're on the topic of former Weezer bassists and their side
projects with former guitarists of other well-known bands that achieved some
degree of popularity in the mid-90's, Mikey Welsh (who played bass on the
much-maligned 'Green Album') has resurfaced as a member of the Kickovers, a
power-pop/pop-punk band featuring Nate Albert, the former guitarist and
founding member of the Mighty Mighty Bosstones. This is actually pretty old
news, but I thought it fit in nicely with the other piece of real news.
