Rapper says the NBA did him and rap music wrong...
Rapper Cam'ron is upset with the NBA over what happened at the half-time show of the recent All-Star game in Atlanta. Cam claims that Mariah Carey wanted him to perform Boy (I Need You) during the half-time show with her, but that the NBA didn't want rap music on their program. He then said that the NBA didn't let him perform due to a lawsuit they filed against Cam's former label, Untertainment.
The NBA claims that they didn't let Cam perform due to him having an outstanding gun charge. The NBA said that they, along with Island Def Jam (his current label), and Mariah Carey's Monarc label all decided it would be best to not have him perform. The NBA added that the half-time show had been billed as Mariah Carey's tribute to Michael Jordan, and a duet would not make sense.
Cam'ron said the following:
"There is nothing that will be bigger than a Michael Jordan tribute. I feel robbed. Sitting up in a skybox, watching the All-Star Game, seeing the half-time show, I felt like I was supposed to be out there. I'm on a 40-city tour to promote the Diplomats album, so that means 40 cities are going to hear my opinion on this. This protest is just the beginning. I want compensation. I'm going to take this all the way to the championships."
